Lectures and tutorials on spine topics are provided to General Practitioners. Please email education@harbourspine.com.au to arrange a speaker or tutor for your event.

Registrar Education

Registrar education is provided through the Australian Orthopaedic Association Training Program. Lectures and tutorials are provided at Tuesday Bone School. Accredited training positions in Spine Surgery are available at Royal North Shore Hospital, Children’s Hospital Westmead and Westmead Hospital.

Royal North Shore Hospital Spine Fellowship

Royal North Shore Hospital is a 600-bed tertiary referral hospital. It offers an established and comprehensive Spine Fellowship Program under the supervision of four specialist Spine Surgeons. Exposure is offered to the full spectrum of Adult Spine Surgery, including deformity, trauma, tumour, infection and degenerative disease. Fellows participate in over 400 surgeries per annum.

Duties include participation in surgery, participation in outpatient clinics and management of acute presentations to the hospital emergency department. Royal North Shore Hospital is a principal referral center for spinal cord injury. All adult spine pathologies are managed, and the fellowship offers ample exposure to the management of complex spine deformity.

Clinical support is provided by a full complement of training registrars and residents, within a teaching hospital environment. Fellows are required to complete a research project – clinical and basic science options are available through our affiliation with The University of Sydney.

Children’s Hospital Westmead Spine Fellowship

The Children’s Hospital Westmead is New South Wales’ largest paediatric hospital. An established and comprehensive Spine Fellowship Program is offered under the supervision of four specialist Paediatric Spine Surgeons. Exposure is offered to the full spectrum of paediatric deformity surgery, including adolescent idiopathic scoliosis, congenital scoliosis, neuromuscular scoliosis, kyphosis and spondylolisthesis. Children’s Hospital Westmead is a statewide referral centre for paediatric spine trauma and spinal cord injury.
